Bottle Battle

Collin is extremely attached to his bottle. He gets 3 a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I really want him to move to the sippy cup. I got one for him with the soft spout. If it's during the day and I put water in it, he will knaw on it for a while, but he does not really drink it. If I give him his milk in his sippy cup at any feeding times, he has a fit. Should I just let him cry until he decides to drink the milk out of the sippy? And what if he never does, do I just let him starve? His milk is a large part of his diet right now because his appetite is not so great. The past couple of weeks, he's been eating less and seems to be pickier than usual. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Rhonda-School

I don't think I ever mentioned it on here. I graduated with my BBA on May 12th. Yipee!!!!! I'm done!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Collin's Teddy Bear

Collin has been somewhat attached to a teddy bear he got when he was born. He always rubs his face on it when he's tired and he cuddles it when he sleeps. We had a very busy weekend and so he was extremely tired when I put him the bath yesterday evening. Usually he loves the bath. He was holding his bear when I was undressing him and would not let go of it. I figured he would let go once he saw he was getting in the bath. Boy was I mistaken!! I had to let him take the bear in the bathtub with him so he wouldn't scream!! Once it was time to get out, Garner gave him his polar bear Aunt Jenni got him at the zoo to try and pacify him while the wet one went into the dryer. He still was not extremely happy. It was so cute...some people think I'm causing him to have a crutch by letting him be so attached to that bear. I figure if that's the only thing that really cuases him to be upset is being away from his bear when he's tired, well, I've done a pretty good job at making my baby feel secure! It's not like he carries it around all day. He's only attached with it when he's sleepy. Anyway, he's such a good baby and I don't care what anyone else thinks! If you did not help to create or birth Collin, your opinion is just that...an opinion.

Cuddly Collin

Ever since Collin's recent illness, he's a lot more cuddly. In the mornings, when he has finished his bottle, he just wants me to hold him for a little while. He curls his arms up between his chest and mine and lays on my shoulder. It is the sweetest thing and it has become a morning ritual. He is certainly more clingy to me around people he does not know very well. I used to wonder if he truly knew I was his Mommy, but there is no doubt about it now.
It is amazing to me how quickly babies change. For example, Collin used to love to take medicine, I guess the flavor made him think it was a treat. Then, he just decided he did not like it anymore. He has a cold now and so I've been giving him liquid meds and for the most part he resists. This morning though, he let me give it to him. It was like he knew he was going to get it no matter what so he might as well not fight me. He knows what he likes and dislikes regarding food just from the sight of it. He has favorite toys he clings too like his teddy bear he would not let go of today. He knows those people who are closest to him like Mrs. Jackie and his Aunt Jenni. His face lights up when he sees them. It's just really cool to see him develop his own personality.
He is the love of his parents!!

I should probably give an update on Garner. Clinicals are going very well. He is really enjoying it other than the fact that his feet hurt from standing all day. He has the coolest stories to tell. Yesterday, they removed some guys jaw and re-set it. It was a 6 hour surgery. He has a very interesting job now and I'm so proud of him for doing so well! The lead tech guy there told him he would get a job offer from Baptist because he knows his stuff and because he is a guy. Supposedly, hospitals are trying to hire more men in this predominantly woman-based field because they don't gossip as much, they just get the job done. I can understand how that would be.

Oh, and Garner and I are going on our Jamaica trip in August that we have been planning for a year. It's getting close, and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Mother's Day

I hope all of you had as good of a Mother's Day as I did...Collin walked!!! We weren't even trying to get him to, he just did it. He took two steps to Garner, three steps to me, and two steps to Jenni so we know it was not a fluke. Hopefully he will continue to try and not quit. We were at Garner's Aunt's house on his mother's side when he did it. We were all so excited we started screaming and clapping, I think all the excitement scared the poor little guy! We were so happy though!!

Collin Update

I think Collin is finally well and we are so glad! We ended up back at the ER Monday night. He was dehydrated and his blood sugar was very low. So they put in an IV which seemed to immediately help. We weren't rid of the virus yet though. I kept him home until Friday. He's just now back to eating normally and the nasty diapers are finally gone. I caught it Tuesday, so I felt horrible plus I still had to take care of Collin because Garner could not miss clinicals. Garner thought he was in the clear, but caught it Friday and had to stay home. So we are glad to get back to life as usual, though very busy. I don't wish this bug on anyone, it was a nasty little devil! It is very contagious though and spreading quickly, so beware!
